Putting the band back together….again
by Mc on Jun.28, 2011, under Podcasts
Yes, we’re back after quite a break, again and no neither of us was in jail . At this point I think that we have more “welcome back” podcasts than regularly scheduled shows.
We’ve selected only the choicest cuts from all the news for discussion in the podcast this week, including: the gritty reboot no one expected (or wanted); news on Tarantino’s next project (and who has already bailed on it, allegedly) and more casting news on Superman’s Dad with some rampant speculation on his accent and hairstyle .
As it’s been over a month since ewe’ve had a chance to cast, we also catch up on all the movies that we’ve missed with reviews of  “X-Men: First Class”, “The Hangover Part 2”, “Blitz”, “Green Lantern” (and a little bit on “Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides”).
As usual you can find all the trailers and pics mentioned in this week’s show below for your perusal.
Until next time, enjoy!
Show Notes:
- Latest “Captain America” Trailer: Heroes are made where?
- First pics of Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins in “The Hobbit”
- The Adventures of Tin Tin trailer
- First look at Hawkeye and The Hulk alongside Captain America, Thor and Iron Man in the new “Avengers” Promo Latest Poster

Another Night
by Mc on May.15, 2011, under Newspost
We may not have a podcast this week but that doesn’t mean we won’t have new content.
The first trailer for the remake of “Fright Night†is now up online and I have to say this looks like a lot of fun!
The original starred Chris Sarandon (the creepy Prince Humperdinck from “The Princess Brideâ€Â), Roddy McDowall (Planet of the Apes ) and William Ragsdale (who now plays Winona’s douchebag husband in “Justified†on TV), and told the tale of a high school kid who enlists the aid of an old TV horror show host to combat the vampire next door. They’ve been updated with Colin Farrell (from, well, loads), David Tennant (used to be Doctor Who) and Anton Yelchin, who I’m starting to hate on after getting plum roles as Chekov in “Star Trek”, Kyle Reese in “Terminator: Salvation†and not sucking at all.
Stop….Hammertime!
by Mc on May.11, 2011, under Newspost
As you may have noticed there’s not been many.. .well ANY updates round these parts for a while. Due to circumstances beyond our control (bloody work… rassum frassum), Mc and Yap will not be in the same country .. or the same timezone, for the next while, which can make doing a weekly podcast a little bit difficult.
Keep an eye on the site and our twitter feeds for updates and as usual keep sending us questions so we can have a bumper show when we inevitably return (no doubt when Captain America opens)
We’ll try to sort something out in the meantime but to tide you over here’s a picture of a cat doing hammer-time.
Til next time!
Thor Spoilercast
by Mc on May.04, 2011, under Avengers, Podcasts, Spoilercast
What madness is this!!? A second podcast within a single week!? Well Gavin and I couldn’t let Thor pass without having a no hold barred, cage match discussion of the film, the plot, the characters, the effects, character arcs, who lives, who dies, everything!
Hence we bring you our first separate SPOILERcast. If you’ve not seen Thor yet then we recommend that you DO NOT listen to this podcast until after you have seen it, lest you ruin your viewing pleasaure.
Once you have seen Thor relive the movie with us and let us know what you think of Asgard’s mightiest by emailing us at podcast@mcyapandfries.com or sending us your comments via the form available at the “contact us” link above (or click here )

Behold the Mighty Thor Frog!
by Mc on May.03, 2011, under Podcasts

Seriously?
This week we review, what else, but “Thor”, the next Marvel hero to jump from the comic book page to the big screen. For those of you worried about such things, our review of Thor in THIS podcast will be completely spoiler free, as we have prepared a separate Thor spoiler-cast, where we discuss the movie, in detail covering plot details of the film, which I’ll put up in a day or too once everyone has had a chance to see the movie.
I think I can fairly say that it’s not a spoiler that Thor Frog over there there is NOT in the movie. He’s just an incredibly dumb thing that we wanted to share
As for the rest of the show we’ve got news of Bill and Ted 3, rumours that Arnie may be back again for “Terminator:Retirement”, tales of the the apparent rivalry between Steve McQueen and Bruce Lee and much much more. All the trailers and pics we mention should be covered by the show notes below, let me know if I’ve missed something, enjoy!
Show Notes:
- First behind the scenes footage from “The Hobbit” , from Peter Jackson himself
- “Rise of the planet of the Apes” Trailer
- “Troll Hunter” Trailer
- Latest “Transformers 3” Trailer
- Latest trailer for “X-Men:First Class”
- Trailer for “30 minutes or Less” with Jesse Eisenberg and Aziz Ansari
- Weird Picture of Sean Penn in his new flick

Jake-a-palooza
by Mc on Apr.14, 2011, under Newspost
Back once again with a mid-week podcast, this week’s show is chock full of Jake Gyllenhaal; with reviews of “Love and Other Drugs”, where he stars with Anne Hathaway, “Source Code” Duncan Jones directorial follow up for to last year’s “Moon”, with our Jake starring as a soldier who seems to be reliving the same train accident over and over again …or is he?
And we finish the show with a review of “True Grit”. Which doesn’t star Jake Gyllenhaal at all but what are you going to do?
Along with this, we bring you news of the villain Superman will be facing off against in Zack Snyder’s reboot of the franchise, along with the actor who will be playing them, news of Josh Brolin’s look for MIB 3, Mc’s growing anticipation for “Priest” and our usual set of bizarre questions from the mail bag.
Show Notes:
- Trailer for Arnie’s “The Governator”
- Genndy Tartakovsky’s animated prologue to “Priest”
- New Priest Trailer
- Michael Shannon’s IMDB page (The man who will be Zod in superman)

Why is there a guy with a head like a chicken?
by Mc on Apr.04, 2011, under Newspost
For this week’s podcast goodness we bring you a special guest in the form of returning guest star Chi Ren (and no he’s not the one with the chicken head) who joins Gavin and Iain as they review “Jackass 3D” (no explanation necessary I hope), dramedy “Blue Valentine”, 1986’s Classic black comedy “Ruthless People”, and Gareth Edwards creatures in Mexico flick, “Monsters”.
This week we also take a loook at the new “Green Lantern” footage from Wondercon, the new trailer for “The Hangover Part II”, we talk a LOT about possible reboots and the hollywood cycle and we debut our new feature “Free Pass ” in which we pick the directors/actors whose projects, no matter how crappy sounding, we would give the benefit of the doubt, based upon the awesomeness of the rest of their body of work.
Let us know who you would give a free pass to in the comments below!
Show notes:
- Green Lantern Wonder con Footage
- The Hangover Part II Trailer
- Jeremy Renner & Gemma Arterton as “Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters”

News wise we take a look at casting rumours for the remake of Akira, the next Batman film, what Hugh Jackman wants to do next and the supposed new director for the Robocop reboot now that Darren Araonofsky has left the project.
All this and more await!

Which Wonder Woman?
by Mc on Mar.23, 2011, under Newspost
Last week saw the first image released of Adrianne Palicki (Friday Night Lights, Supernatural) in her costume as Wonder Woman in David E. Kelley’s new version of the classic TV show.
At this point who knows what to expect from NBC and Kelley who brought us Boston Legal (and Boston Public), Doogie Howser M.D, Chicago Hope and Ally McBeal (Christ that was a long time ago now), but leaked information seems to indicate that WW will be head of a huge corporation (who everyone knows is WW) as well as Diana Prince a somewhat more unassuming character.
The show’s only in pre-production now so it should be a while before we see any more apart from set pics (like those of Liz Hurley getting out of a car that were recently leaked), but what we want to know is what do YOU think of her new duds, especially compared to her old ones?
Do you prefer “new” Wonder Woman, “Classic” WonderWoman , or Wonder Woman in her “Classic swimming trunks”? Click below to have your say!
