Sucker Punch-ed

by on Mar.28, 2011, under Podcasts

After last weeks review-a-thon we’re back this week with a little more focused show this week as we concentrate on reviewing Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch.

News wise we take a look at casting rumours for the remake of Akira, the next Batman film, what Hugh Jackman wants to do next and the supposed new director for the Robocop reboot now that Darren Araonofsky has left the project.

All this and more await!

Which Wonder Woman?

by on Mar.23, 2011, under Newspost

Last week saw the first image released of Adrianne Palicki (Friday Night Lights, Supernatural) in her costume as Wonder Woman in David E. Kelley’s new version of the classic TV show.

At this point who knows what to expect from NBC and Kelley who brought us Boston Legal (and Boston Public), Doogie Howser M.D, Chicago Hope and Ally McBeal (Christ that was a long time ago now), but leaked information seems to indicate that WW will be head of a huge corporation (who everyone knows is WW) as well as Diana Prince a somewhat more unassuming character.

The show’s only in pre-production now so it should be a while before we see any more apart from set pics (like those of Liz Hurley getting out of a car that were recently leaked), but what we want to know is what do YOU think of her new duds, especially compared to her old ones?

Who’s Next on Celebrity Breakdown?

by on Mar.21, 2011, under Podcasts

A lot has happened since we last podcasted all those weeks ago but we’re finally back and this week we try to cover it all with reviews of  Aaron Eckhart’ s gritty “Battle Los Angeles”, Oscar Winning boxing movie “The Fighter”, geeks and aliens road comedy “Paul”,  sci-Fi romance “The Adjustment Bureau” and we finish off with a review of the quite frankly bizarre animated lizard western “Rango”.

On the news front we take a look at the latest “Winning “insanity to Come from Charlie Sheen; who we think will be next in the celebrity nut house; our take on the Wonder Woman costume for the new TV show and all the latest trailers  including “The Smurfs”, “Conan The Barbarian” , “Super 8”, “Attack the Block” and Tom Hanks & Julia Roberts  dramedy “Larry Crowne”, all of which are linked to below for your viewing pleasure.,

Enjoy

So you may have noticed…

by on Feb.23, 2011, under Newspost

…that there’s no podcast this week.

Well, this is due to the minor issue that Gavin and I are separated by eight timezones at present, as I got sent away to the UK for work.

I should be back and normal service will resume in about two weeks and, time permitting, I’ll bring back some early reviews of movies that come out in Europe befiore they do in Asia.

Until then maybe you could email us in YOUR reviews to podcast@mcyapandfries.com

Skin and Bones has a lot to offer

by on Feb.13, 2011, under Podcasts

..according to our guest this week, one Mr. Paul Hasham, who joins Gavin and Iain in discussing the Superbowl trailers from last week, rumours of a Robocop statue in “old” Detroit, the emails we’ve received and in reviewing Oscar nominated “The King’s Speech”, and crazy anime  “Summer Wars”.

Ssssssssuperbooowwwl Sunday!

by on Feb.10, 2011, under Newspost

We’re late with our round up of the Superbowl teasers, (surprise, surprise) but I thought it best to get these up on the site so you could while away a few minutes on on Friday watching these and, if you feel like it, emailing us any thoughts or questions you might have on this year’s collection of summer blockbusters to podcast@mcyapandfries.com (or leaving comments at the end of the page).

I can’t remember when the first time was that I waited around for the Superbowl trailers to pop online, it can’t have been that long ago because its a relatively new thing that the ads are available so soon after showing on TV, maybe it was the first Michael Bay Transformers flick.
I do vaguely remember squinting at the screen for those 30 second snippets trying to glean what I could about the upcoming summer entertainments.

This years batch look pretty good, in order of my anticipation we start with our first real look at Chris Evans in “Captain America: The First Avenger”

Let’s drive this show off the road!

by on Feb.08, 2011, under Podcasts

Let’s roll Kato!
Yes we are back again, and this week we review the Green Hornet and 127 hours and discuss what we think of the new Superman (Henry Cavill) and the new Captain America Poster.
Disclaimer the podcast was recorded BEFORE the superbowl so we didn’t get to comment on the trailers in the cast but we will next week (and I’ll put up links to them over the next while)

Shoplifting your dreams

by on Jan.23, 2011, under Podcasts

“Two podcasts in a single week after over a month of silence are you are you kidding me!!!?”
No, we’re not.

Gavin’s going top be away next week, so we thought we’d use what little time he has to have a few beers (and we ended up recording a podcast).

This week we’ve got news on what we can expect trailer wise from superbowl Sunday, updates on even more pictures from X-Men: First Class and Spider-man as well as Judge Dredd shooting in South Africa amongst others.
As for reviews, this week we review awards season darling “The Kids are Alright”, Bansky’s street art “documentary” (or is it?) “Exit through the Giftshop”, romantic comedy “Going the distance” starring Justin Long and Drew Barrymore, and quirky UK supernatural drama “Skeletons”.

Throw in some surreal talk of dreaming, shoplifting and great British sitcoms and you’ve got yourself quite a show. Enjoy!
